A new international sample of research by German scientists reveals for the first time the main features of those who rushed to stock up their houses with toilet paper. Generally speaking, they are these permanently anxious types, the systematically – organized perfectionists, as well as the elderly. The second personality trait associated with the mass purchase of toilet paper is the degree of conscientiousness, organizing, perfectionism, predictability and prudence one has. Also around the world, older people bought more paper than younger ones, while at the same time, Americans bought more than Europeans. However, the researchers noted that, despite these findings, “we are still far from fully understanding the phenomenon”.
