Things you shouldn’t say to a person on a diet – Be tactful guys!
[/fusion_title][fusion_text] Many people try to lose weight and “fight” with their metabolism. In fact, no matter how good or athletic a person is, he/she can be called upon at least once in his life to face the extra pounds for various reasons! Instead of crucifying them for gaining weight, many of us try to encourage these people to do something about it. But no matter how good our intentions are, does what we say really help? Research: Vegetarian diet and fractures – Why are vegans more at risk? What do nutritionists say? Every person is different. Ok, we all know that! What we sometimes don’t realize, however, is that a phrase can be translated differently by each individual. Many nutritionists report that their patients often feel bad, even when their friends make nice comments about the changes in their appearance. Thus, innocent comments such as “how beautiful you are”, “you have lost a lot of weight” etc., can be disturbing instead of encouraging. Comments that you should avoid
“How much weight do you still need to lose?” Yes, this phrase clearly implies that the individual should lose more weight. But everyone feels comfortable at different scale numbers. So, why the critical attitude, please?
“I guess you won’t eat that, will you?”
Clearly, there are many foods that are either high in fat or high in sugar. And yes, usually those who try to lose weight avoid them, as a rule. This does not mean that such foods are banned forever! It is better not to unleash such outbursts because all we can do is fill these people with guilt.
“You look nice, do not gain weight again!”
If someone wanted your opinion, they would ask you… It is good to be careful about what we say! When one looks in the mirror, one knows the change and feels good. Why remind him/her of their old self when they try to get away from it?
“Be careful not to regain your lost pounds…”
Obviously, they will be careful and that is why there are some responsible people by their side. What’s the pessimism for?
“You look gorgeous now!”
It can be said with the best intentions and the most positive vibes! But very often, one can wonder “well, was I so bad?” or “why does everyone care about my body?”. It is not the best feeling.
