Mamba Mentality: Η παρακαταθήκη του Κόμπι Μπράιαντ στις επόμενες γενιές
[/fusion_title][fusion_text] Η μαύρη μάμπα είναι ένα από τα πιο δηλητηριώδη και επικίνδυνα φίδια. Ζει στην Αφρική και μπορεί να φτάσει έως και τα τρία μέτρα. Ταυτόχρονα, είναι ένα φίδι ταχύτατο και ιδιαίτερα επιθετικό. Είναι προφανείς οι λόγοι για τους οποίους το παρατσούκλι Black Mamba «κόλλησε» στον Κόμπι Μπράιντ. Η προσήλωσή του στον στόχο, η θέλησή του να… εξοντώσει τους αντιπάλους του αλλά και το killer instinct που είχε κάθε φορά που φορούσε την φανέλα των Los Angeles Lakers και πατούσε το παρκέ, είναι τα στοιχεία που τον έκαναν γνωστό σε όλο τον κόσμο. Ο χαμός του Κόμπι αλλά και της 13χρονης κόρης του Τζιάνα στους λόφους του Καλαμπάσας, προκάλεσε σοκ σε όλο τον κόσμο. Ίσως ο κυριότερος λόγος είναι πως όλοι όσοι ασχολήθηκαν έστω και επιδερμικά με τη ζωή του και την προσωπικότητά του, είχαν την αίσθηση ότι ήταν άτρωτος… Ας μιλήσουμε λοιπόν για το Mamba Mentality, την παρακαταθήκη που άφησε ο Κόμπι στις επόμενες γενιές.
Άρθρο του βρετανικού Guardian αναφέρει πως η προσήλωσή του στο μπάσκετ αλλά και στο στόχο δεν φαίνεται από το γεγονός ότι κατέκτησε πέντε πρωταθλήματα NBA και δύο χρυσά ολυμπιακά μετάλλια, αλλά ούτε και από τα αμέτρητα προσωπικά ρεκόρ του στα 20 χρόνια της επαγγελματικής του καριέρας. Αντίθετα, είναι ένα post που είχε κάνει ο ίδιος στον προσωπικό του λογαριασμό στο Instagram, λίγους μήνες πριν από τον θάνατό του. Τότε λοιπόν, είχε δημοσιεύσει μια φωτογραφία – η οποία είχε τραβηχτεί προ διετίας – με τον ίδιο και την ομάδα των μικρών κοριτσιών του Mamba Sports Academy, όλες 10-11 ετών περίπου (σε αυτή την ομάδα ήταν και η κόρη του Τζιάνα). Είχαν κατακτήσει την τέταρτη θέση και κρατούσαν όλες τα… τρόπαιά τους. Ο Κόμπι ήθελε να φωτογραφηθούν όλοι μαζί, προκειμένου να θυμούνται την… απογοήτευση που είχαν στα πρόσωπά τους. 
Μάλιστα, σαν να μην έφτανε αυτό, είχε γράψει πως από τη φωτογραφία έλειπε ένα κορίτσι, σχολιάζοντας πως είχε προτιμήσει να πάει σε ένα ρεσιτάλ χορού και όχι να παίξει μπάσκετ, μαζί με τις συμπαίκτριές της. Ουσιαστικά, ο Κόμπι Μπράιντ έδειξε τότε ότι δεν έχει σημασία εάν είσαι ένας Hall of Famer ή ένα μικρό κορίτσι… Σε κάθε περίπτωση, θα ζητούσε από εσένα τα δώσεις το 100%, ίσως και λίγο παραπάνω! Αυτό το χαρακτηριστικό, ο Κόμπι το ονόμασε Mamba Mentality και έγραψε και βιβλίο, στο οποίο εξηγούσε ακριβώς τι εννοεί. «Μου άρεσε πάντα να προκαλώ τους ανθρώπους και να τους κάνω να νιώθουν άβολα. Αυτός είναι ο τρόπος ώστε να βελτιωθεί κανείς σε αυτό που κάνει. Θα μπορούσε να πει κανείς ότι προκάλεσα ανθρώπους να βρουν τον καλύτερο εαυτό τους», έχει γράψει ο ίδιος στο Players’ Tribune. «To Mamba Mentality σημαίνει να ψάχνεις διαρκώς τον τρόπο ώστε να είσαι η καλύτερη εκδοχή του εαυτού σου. Να ψάχνεις διαρκώς τρόπους ώστε να είσαι καλύτερος σε σχέση με αυτό που ήσουν χθες, σε σχέση με αυτό που ήσουν πέρσι», είχε πει σε μια συνέντευξή του. Σε ερώτηση για το τι σημαίνει για τον ίδιο όταν κορυφαίοι παίκτες του NBA προσπαθούν να μυηθούν σε αυτή τη φιλοσοφία, είχε πει πως «χαίρομαι πολύ, γιατί αυτό σημαίνει ότι όσα έκανα στην καριέρα μου ως μπασκετμπολίστας δεν γράφτηκαν απλά σε ένα βιβλίο και έμειναν εκεί». Το Mamba Mentality του Κόμπι δεν έμεινε μόνο στις τέσσερις γραμμές ενός γηπέδου μπάσκετ. Το 2018, κέρδισε Όσκαρ στην κατηγορία της Καλύτερης Ταινίας Μικρού Μήκους Animation για το «Dear Basketball». Ενα animated φιλμ για τον αποχαιρετισμό του Κόμπι Μπράιαντ στο μπάσκετ, πίσω στο 2015.
«Αγαπημένο μου μπάσκετ, Από τη στιγμή που φόρεσα τις κάλτσες του πατέρα μου και ξεκίνησα νοητά να εκτελώ νικητήρια σουτ στο θρυλικό Western Forum, ήξερα πως ένα πράγμα ήταν αληθινό. Σε ερωτεύτηκα. Σε αγάπησα τόσο, που σου έδωσα τα πάντα. Το μυαλό και το κορμί μου, το πνεύμα και την ψυχή μου. Ήμουν ένα εξάχρονο παιδί που σε αγάπησε έντονα. Δεν είδα ποτέ το τέλος του τούνελ. Είδα μόνο τον εαυτό μου να βγαίνει τρέχοντας από αυτό. Έτρεξα πάνω κάτω σε κάθε παρκέ για να κυνηγήσω κάθε μπαλιά. Μου ζήτησες να παλέψω και σου έδωσα την καρδιά μου γιατί μου προσέφερες πολλά περισσότερα. Έπαιξα με ιδρώτα και με πόνο, όχι μόνο επειδή η πρόκληση με καλούσε, αλλά κι επειδή ΕΣΥ με φώναζες. Έκανα τα πάντα για ΕΣΕΝΑ, γιατί έτσι πρέπει να κάνεις όταν κάποιος σε κάνει να αισθάνεσαι τόσο ζωντανός, όσο εσύ με άφησες να νιώσω. Έδωσες σε ένα εξάχρονο παιδί το όνειρο των Lakers και γι’ αυτό θα σε αγαπώ για πάντα. Όμως, δεν μπορώ να σε αγαπώ τόσο αρρωστημένα για πολύ ακόμα. Αυτή τη χρονιά, είναι ό,τι μου έχει απομείνει για να σου δώσω. Η καρδιά μου μπορεί να αντέξει το σφυροκόπημα, το μυαλό μου θα το διαχειριστεί, όμως το σώμα μου ξέρει πως ήρθε η στιγμή να πω αντίο. Και είμαι εντάξει. Είμαι έτοιμος να σε αφήσω να φύγεις. Θέλω να το γνωρίζεις τώρα, ώστε και οι δυο να αδράξουμε κάθε στιγμή που μας απόμεινε. Τα καλά και τα άσχημα. Δώσαμε ο ένας στον άλλο όσα είχαμε. Γνωρίζουμε και οι δυο, πως ό,τι κι αν κάνω μετά, θα είμαι πάντα αυτό το παιδί με τις γυρισμένες κάλτσες, τον κάδο με τα σκουπίδια στη γωνία και τα πέντε δευτερόλεπτα.
