[/fusion_title][fusion_text] Όπως φανερώνει και το όνομά του, το deep tissue massage είναι ένα είδος θεραπευτικής μάλαξης η οποία επικεντρώνεται στην χαλάρωση των βαθύτερων στιβάδων των μυϊκών ομάδων και των συνδετικών ιστών. Είναι και αυτό ένα πανάρχαιο μασάζ, καθώς αναφορές για την χρήση του υπάρχουν στην Αίγυπτο, την Άπω Ανατολή, τις Ινδίες, την Ταϊλάνδη, ακόμα και την Αρχαία Ελλάδα. Ο θεραπευτής χρησιμοποιεί τα δάχτυλα, τις γροθιές, τις παλάμες και τους αγκώνες ώστε να βρει τα σημεία που είναι σφιγμένα, «κρύβουν» την ένταση και μπλοκάρουν την καλή ροή της ενέργειας. Το μασάζ των ιστών είναι ιδανικό σε περιπτώσεις χρόνιας έντασης των μυών σε δύσκολα σημεία όπως η πλάτη, η μέση, ο αυχένας. Είναι αυτά τα σημεία που νιώθουμε να πιάνονται καθημερινά για πολλούς λόγους, όπως το άγχος, η κακή στάση σώματος, η κακή στάση κατά τη διάρκεια του ύπνου, η έντονη αθλητική δραστηριότητα. Η πίεση σε αυτά τα σημεία κατά τη διάρκεια του μασάζ μπορεί να προκαλέσει αρχικά πόνο ωστόσο στη συνέχεια απελευθερώνει τις εντάσεις. Ακριβώς επειδή δρα σε ένα βαθύτερο επίπεδο στο σώμα, το deep tissue massage δεν είναι μια χαλαρωτική μάλαξη, αλλά μια πιο δυναμική θεραπεία. Ωστόσο, ακόμα και αν υπάρχει ένα αίσθημα πόνου, συνήθως περνά γρήγορα και αυτό που αισθάνεται ο δέκτης του μασάζ είναι τόνωση και ευεξία σε όλο το σώμα, καθώς όλες οι εντάσεις που ένιωθε προηγουμένως έχουν εξαφανιστεί. Στα οφέλη του συγκεκριμένου μασάζ περιλαμβάνονται επίσης, η αύξηση της κυκλοφορίας του αίματος, η παροχή οξυγόνου στους μυς που οδηγεί στην γρήγορη επανάκαμψη τους, η μείωση της αρτηριακής πίεσης και η επαναφορά των φυσιολογικών καρδιακών παλμών, η συνολική χαλάρωση και η αποβολή του άγχους και τους στρες.
